VetsEZ is seeking a remote Data Scientist to be a part of a remote team supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs. The ideal candidate will leverage advanced analytics, statistical modeling, and machine learning techniques to extract actionable insights from complex datasets.

The candidate must reside within the continental US.

Responsibilities:

  • Collect, clean, and preprocess large datasets from various sources to ensure data quality and consistency.
  • Apply statistical analysis, machine learning models, and predictive analytics to solve complex problems and uncover trends and patterns.
  • Build, test, and deploy scalable data models, algorithms, and workflows to support organizational objectives.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and data visualizations to communicate insights to stakeholders effectively.
  • Collaborate with project managers, business analysts, and technical teams to understand business goals and deliver data-driven solutions.
  • Conduct hypothesis testing and design experiments to optimize processes and outcomes.
  • Utilize tools and techniques for data mining, natural language processing (NLP), and predictive analytics.
  • Document data processes, models, and workflows to ensure reproducibility and knowledge sharing.
  • Take on additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to support team objectives and ensure the success of the project.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent discipline.
  • 8+ of experience is required.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL for data analysis and modeling.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Strong understanding of machine learning algorithms, statistical methods, and predictive modeling techniques.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and big data technologies.
  • Ability to communicate complex data insights effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with a focus on practical and actionable results.
  • Knowledge of data privacy and security regulations and best practices.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across teams and departments.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience working with Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) or other federal agencies.
  • The following certifications: MongoDB certification, AWS certification, Azure certification, etc.
  • Experience in SAFe/Agile Software Development and ability to work effectively in a multi-stakeholder and DevSecOps environment.
  • Ability to obtain a government clearance.
